Membership in KFHS

Our meetings are usually held on the 4th Thursday of every month from September to May (excluding December), starting at 7pm at the Heritage House, 100 Lorne St.

A short business meeting is followed by a break for socializing, then either a guest speaker or short presentations from members about their latest discoveries or ongoing “brick walls”— those elusive ancestors who are proving very difficult to find in official records.

Our AGM is held at our March meeting. Current membership fees are $30 for individuals and $40 for families, payable in September.

Family Footsteps: Family Footsteps e-Journal is published twice per year. Contributions are welcome! Each issue features an aspect of Kamloops local history or a local historical person or family, plus contributions from our members, plus news about our society and the greater genealogical world. An index to back issues can be found on our website kfhs.org; some back issues are available for purchase.

Facebook: We have an active Facebook group; search "Kamloopsfamilyhistory" on Facebook to find us. Our Facebook admins share genealogy news and tips from around the world.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs): Plans are underway to establish Special Interest Groups for members researching their DNA, members using specific genealogical software applications, etc.

Journal exchanges: KFHS exchanges journals with other BC, Canadian, US and UK genealogical societies. Our members select the journals they would like to receive via email.

Camaraderie & mentoring: We’d love to see you at one of our meetings. You’ll enjoy connecting with like-minded people and sharing your latest finds. Perhaps someone will have an idea that helps you in your ancestral search, or vice versa!
